A big white quartz geode, six inches across and close to three pounds, opened up to show a cave lined wall to wall with hundreds of small milky quartz crystals, each one a little stubby point with its own flat faces, packed shoulder to shoulder so the whole interior reads as one thick crust of crystal. The quartz is milky rather than glassy, a soft opaque white like sugar cubes or fresh snow, and the effect is texture more than shine. Run your eyes across it and the surface keeps resolving into more and more individual points the closer you look.

Deeper in there are two small hollows where the crystals grew tighter and smaller, and the gray of the host rock shows through between them. Those pockets give the cave its depth and are where the shadows collect.

The outside is the other half of the story. The back and edges keep the geode's natural rind, a dark chocolate brown and black skin with a rough, pitted surface, and it wraps around the white like a shell. That contrast is what makes a geode feel like a geode. From the back it looks like an ordinary rock. Turn it around and the whole inside is crystal.

It sits flat on its own with the crystal face upright, so it is ready for a shelf or a desk as it comes. No stand needed.

Quartz is the workhorse of the crystal world, the one people call the master stone, and a geode full of it is read as amplifying whatever you bring to it. Milky and white quartz are associated with clarity, focus, and a clean fresh energy, the feeling of a room after the windows have been opened, and the milky kind is read as the gentler, softer version of clear quartz, calm rather than sharp. A geode form adds something of its own. It is read as a container, a small protected world, the kind of stone people keep where they want a sense of shelter and calm, a bedside table, a reading corner, an entryway. Hundreds of points growing together are often taken as a picture of community and abundance, many small things making one strong whole, and a big open geode like this is a favorite for people who want one generous, bright anchor stone rather than a collection of small ones.

It is also simply a great gift. A geode is the one crystal almost everyone recognizes, and the moment of turning it over from the plain back to the crystal face never gets old.

The product photographs show the exact piece you will receive.

Specifications
Stone: natural white quartz geode, milky quartz crystal interior, natural rind exterior
Size: about 6 inches wide and 4 inches tall
Weight: 2 lb 11.8 oz (1241 g)
Form: geode half, open crystal face, sits flat on its own
Hardness: 7 (Mohs)

Please note: this is a natural specimen.
