A dark agate nodule cut open and polished, with almost the whole front given over to the cave. The druzy inside is a deep blue gray that reads nearly black until the light reaches it, and then the entire face breaks into fine points at once. A band of pale cream crust runs along the lower edge of the opening where the nodule was still rough, and the shell around it is polished to a near black gloss with one soft gray band curving over the top. The bottom is cut flat. The agate is from Uruguay.

This one is all about the moment the light finds it. Face on in a dim corner it reads as a dark rounded stone, and then a lamp moves or you move and the whole cave lights up grainy and silver. Put it where that can happen, a shelf you walk past, a side table near a lamp, somewhere the light changes through the day rather than a spot that is evenly lit all the time.
