Banded Agate Geode — Standing Freeform with a Notched Crown and Gray Botryoidal Druzy

A small agate geode cut and polished into a standing freeform with a notched crown at the top. The open face is filled with gray botryoidal druzy, bubbled and rounded rather than flat, with a band of warm caramel running along the upper edge and pale blue gray agate wrapping the outside. Turn it around and the back is a different stone again, deep smoky purple with dark green and black inclusions scattered through it. The bottom is cut flat. The agate is from Uruguay.
Size: about 3 inches tall and about 2.4 inches wide
Weight: 7.6 ounces
One of a kind, exactly the piece in the photos.
The bubbled druzy is what makes this one worth close looking, so put it somewhere people get near it, a bedside table or a bookshelf at eye level rather than across the room. Light from the side rakes across the bumps and brings up the texture, while light from straight on flattens it.
Agate is the steady one. It is the stone people keep for the long middle of things, the stretch that is not a crisis and not a triumph, when what is needed is to simply keep going at the same pace. Banded agate in particular has long been read as a record of patience, each layer laid down in its own time and none of them hurried, and it is kept for grounding, for steadiness of temper, and for the slow building of confidence that cannot be rushed into place. Many keep a piece where decisions get made, at a desk or by a door, as a reminder to answer slowly. It is also carried for protection in the plain sense of the word, a stone that holds its shape and asks you to hold yours.
