A small Uruguayan agate, polished all over to a soft glossy blue gray, with a pointed pocket opened in the front face. Look into it and the walls are fine dark druzy, dense and even, catching light in tiny points all the way down, with a warm tan crystal sitting at the bottom of the hollow. The outside is quiet, banded in dove blue and smoke, and the back is where it gets rough on purpose, patches of unpolished rock with a metallic silvery sheen and a few dark spots left exactly as they came. It is about 4 inches tall and about 3 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 3.1 ounces.
It stands on its own on a flat cut base, no stand needed. This is the one for a small space, a nightstand, a desk corner, a narrow shelf, somewhere you will pass it close rather than see it across a room. The pocket is deep and narrow, so it reads almost black until light gets into it and then the whole inside comes alive. Put a lamp near it and turn it until the inside catches.
