A natural cluster of calcite on quartz from Myanmar, about 3.25 inches across, on a dark wood base with three brass pins that hold it up in the light. The calcite grew as big pale blocky crystals, the largest a wedge with growth lines showing on its faces, and they sit on a crust of small quartz points that runs honey orange along the edges and over the back, with a gray green matrix showing between the crystals. Every side of it is different. The front is pale and frosty, the edges are orange and sparkly, and the back is a rough orange crust of tiny points that catch the light.
The stand does the work for you. The brass pins hold the cluster above the wood so light gets in behind the calcite, and the whole thing has about the footprint of a coffee mug. Put it where the morning light lands, a desk, a bookshelf at eye level, the corner of a bathroom counter, and it reads as a tiny sculpture. It comes with the wood and brass stand in the photos.
Calcite is the stone people reach for when they want to clear the air, in a room or in their own head. It is read as a gentle amplifier and cleanser, one that lifts stale energy and makes space for something new, with a long association with learning, memory and steady, unhurried thinking. Quartz is the classic amplifier and clarifier, the stone that turns up whatever sits near it, so the two together are taken as a pairing for clarity, focus and fresh starts. A piece like this, with one big clear thought of a crystal growing straight out of a bed of hundreds of tiny ones, is a good desk stone for anyone whose work is thinking.
The product photographs show the exact piece you will receive.
