Most spheres are a surface. This one has been opened.
Two caves break the polish on the same face, and inside each one the crystals are still standing, sharp and sugary, catching light while everything around them is smooth. Run a thumb across it and the difference is the whole appeal: glass, glass, glass, then suddenly a pocket of tiny points.
The colour is chocolate and cream. Deep brown and near black bands wander across the ball, cut through by broad off white agate and warm tan, and every band is a record of one slow flooding of mineral water into a hollow in the rock. Somewhere in the middle of that process the hollow stopped filling, and what did not fill is what you are looking into.
Cutting a sphere out of a geode is a gamble worth knowing about. The stone is turned against the wheel from every direction at once, and any cavity that opens up cannot be closed again or hidden. Most of them are cut from solid rough for exactly that reason. This one was cut anyway and it came out with both pockets intact.
Agate is the steadying stone, the one associated with patience rather than intensity. It is read as slow, grounded strength, the kind that comes from being built up in layers over a long time, which is literally how it formed. People keep it for stability during change and for taking the sharp edge off anxious energy.
A sphere is the shape with no beginning and no end, and it sends its energy evenly in all directions rather than pointing it anywhere, which is why spheres end up in the middle of a room or a desk rather than in a corner. Add the two open caves and you get the other half of the idea: something whole, with an interior, that is not pretending to be perfectly smooth.
It comes with the small clear stand shown.
