A little garden of quartz. Five slender, glassy points rise out of a rough matrix at different angles, the tallest tipped in the palest lavender, like amethyst that only just decided to be purple. Between them are dozens of smaller points, some no bigger than a grain of rice, sprouting from a crust of white and pale green crystal. The matrix is crusted with tiny sparkling green epidote crystals, a druzy of them, so the whole base glitters when you turn it in the light.
It comes from the Goboboseb Mountains in Namibia, near the Brandberg, a region collectors know for exactly this combination, pale amethyst tinted quartz growing with green epidote. It is a lightweight piece, about three and a half inches across, that sits flat on its own and reads beautifully in sunlight, where the points go clear and throw long shadows. Turn it over and the underside is a plain rough rind of matrix.
Quartz is the great amplifier, the stone people reach for to clear a space and sharpen intention, and a cluster of many points is read as a community of them, sending that clarity out in every direction at once. The lavender tint brings in a little of amethyst's calm and quiet, and epidote is read as the stone of more, the one that turns up whatever it sits beside, so a base full of it is taken as a booster for the whole cluster. A small cluster like this is often kept where the light can reach it, on the theory that it charges the whole room.
