One of the oldest stones on Earth, this Kambaba Jasper sphere is covered in distinctive stromatolite eye patterns formed by fossilized algae over three billion years ago. Deep greens and blacks swirl across the surface, with each orbicular "eye" telling a story that predates every living thing on the planet.

The patterning on this piece is exceptional. Bold, well defined eyes sit against a richly marbled green and black background, giving the sphere an almost planetary quality. It feels substantial in the hand at over a pound, and the polished surface catches light beautifully.

Kambaba Jasper (also known as Crocodile Jasper or Green Stromatolite Jasper) is a sedimentary stone from Madagascar composed of fossilized cyanobacteria colonies. The circular patterns are cross sections of ancient stromatolite structures, making each sphere a small window into some of the earliest life on Earth.
