There is a hole straight through this one. Hold it up to a window and the daylight comes right through the opening, which is the first thing everybody does with it.
This is a thick agate slab, cut and polished flat on both faces and left with its natural raw rim. One end runs charcoal to nearly black, dark enough to read as glassy where the light catches it, and it gives way to cream, tan and soft grey across the rest of the face. Rust orange runs along the seams. The face is opened up with pockets and cavities, and many of them are lined with fine druzy quartz that throws sparkle when you move it under a lamp.
It arrives with the black wire easel shown in the photos. It stands in it on its own with no mounting, so it moves from a shelf to a desk to a windowsill whenever you want it somewhere else.
Agate has always been the steady one in the crystal cabinet. It is the stone people reach for when life gets loud and they want to feel their feet on the floor again. Its bands are slow work, layer settling onto layer over a very long time, and that patience is the quality it is said to lend, a calm that does not rush and does not panic. The dark end carries the grounding half of that, a quiet protective weight, while the cream and honey bands are all warmth and ease. The druzy brings the lift. Those little crystal pockets are said to hold and amplify light and intention, which is why a piece like this one tends to end up where the day starts, a desk, a kitchen shelf, an entry table, somewhere it can catch the morning and hand a little of it back. Set it where the afternoon sun crosses and the sparkle does the rest.
You are buying the exact slab in the photographs. There is only one of it.
