Large Epidote Specimen with Bladed Green Crystals — Raw Natural Mineral Cluster on Matrix

This is a heavy piece, and it earns it. Nearly two pounds of epidote blades locked together at every angle, dark olive green going almost black in the shadows, then catching the light along a hundred flat crystal faces at once. Tilt it toward a window and the whole surface flashes like wet slate. Put it down and it goes quiet and deep again.

Epidote grows in long striated blades rather than points, and on this specimen they have grown into each other in a dense radiating tangle, with pale matrix showing through in the low places like snow between branches. The contrast is the whole appeal: soft cream stone underneath, hard glassy green crystal on top.

At about 4.7 inches across and just under two pounds, this is a shelf piece rather than a pocket piece. It sits solidly on its own without a stand, and it is the kind of specimen people pick up and turn over without meaning to.
