This is a genuine banded malachite sphere, nearly three inches across and heavy in the best way, 1.7 pounds of solid green. The pattern is the famous one, rings inside rings, arcs stacked on arcs, two greens taking turns. Deep forest green and bright mint chase each other across the whole surface, and every turn of the sphere finds you a new bullseye you had not noticed yet.

She has real variety across her faces. One side is all smooth swirling bands. Another opens into clusters of tiny fanned rings, like ripples frozen mid spread, set against softer matte patches where the stone grew as countless tiny crystals pressed together. In sunlight the greens brighten and glow. In soft indoor light she goes deep and velvety. Both are true to her.

A note on authenticity, because malachite is one of the most imitated stones on the market. Real malachite is dense, far heavier than it looks, and this one weighs exactly what genuine malachite should at this size. The resin fakes weigh less than half this. Pick her up once and there is no doubt.
