The green is not a flat color. It is made of thousands of tiny branching inclusions, the moss in moss agate, packed dense in some places and thinning out to feathery drifts in others, so the sphere reads like a map of woods and clearings. This is not a perfect sphere, and that is the point of her. The surface carries plenty of dings, natural cracks and little formations, small pits and hollows where the stone did not fill all the way in, seams where a crack healed over with chalcedony, and rougher patches that show how the agate grew. The polish is smooth where the stone is solid and the pattern goes all the way round with no plain side, but run your thumb over her and you will feel the story.
