The back retains its natural, unpolished texture. Comes with a display stand that holds the piece upright for a dramatic shelf or desk presentation.
About Orthoceras
Orthoceras are extinct nautiloid cephalopods that lived approximately 400 million years ago during the Devonian period. They were among the earliest complex ocean creatures, predating the dinosaurs by hundreds of millions of years. These fossils are found in the limestone formations of Morocco's Atlas Mountains, where ancient sea floors have been pushed to the surface over geological time. Each specimen preserves the internal chamber structure of the animal's shell, with visible septa (dividing walls) that the creature used to regulate buoyancy as it moved through prehistoric oceans.

At nearly a pound and six inches tall on its stand, this piece has real visual weight and presence.
