A big polished slab of purple moss agate, 7.5 inches across, with a seam of white druzy running straight down the middle of it.
The body is plum and lavender chalcedony, translucent enough in the thinner places that light moves through it. Along one edge sit the moss inclusions this stone is named for, dark green and near black, feathering out into a patch of cream. Then the druzy. It is a band of tiny sparkling crystal that grew inside a cavity in the middle of the slab, and it is the thing people will notice from across a room.
It comes on the clear acrylic stand shown, so it stands up on a shelf on its own.
Moss agate is not moss. The green is mineral, iron and manganese that crept into the stone while it was forming, and it simply happens to look like a fern pressed into glass. You may also see this material sold under a trade name. What it really is, is agate, a banded form of chalcedony.
Crystal lore has long tied moss agate to growth and to new starts, the stone people reach for when something in their life is beginning rather than finishing. It is spoken of in terms of abundance, of steady progress, of patience with things that take their own time to arrive. Given what is in it, the association writes itself. Anything that looks this much like a garden caught inside a rock is going to get linked to growing things.
A wide flat slab like this one tends to get read as a window. Put it somewhere you walk past every day, on a shelf, a desk, a windowsill where the afternoon light can find the druzy, and it will keep showing you something you missed the first time.
This is the exact slab in the photographs. There is only one of it.
