This is a solid, self-standing apophyllite cluster shaped like a natural archway, dense with chunky cubic crystals that range from tiny sugar-like formations up to large, glassy cubes you can see your reflection in. The arch shape gives it a presence that most clusters do not have. It plants itself wherever you put it and immediately looks like it has been there for years.

Apophyllite forms inside the air pockets of cooling volcanic lava, crystallizing slowly from hot mineral-rich water over thousands of years. Every crystal face you see on this piece grew in the dark, inside a bubble of ancient basalt, with nothing but heat and time and dissolved minerals for company. The fact that it emerged from all of that looking like a tiny crystal cathedral is, frankly, showing off.
