A tall fluorite tower banded the whole way up, deep violet and near black purple layers stacked against soft white and warm butter cream in waves that shift as you move around it.

Fluorite builds up in layers in the seam it grows in, so cutting a tower out of that seam turns the growth itself into the pattern, and every face carries a slightly different arrangement of the same stacked colors. Near the point the purple thins out and goes pale and misty, there is a thin warm tan seam sitting right under the tip, and toward the base the cream bands widen out and take over. The sides are polished to a soft even sheen with the corners cut back into narrow facets, and the base is cut flat and wide enough that the tower stands on its own without needing a stand. A few small natural marks sit inside the stone toward the base, the kind of thing that comes with a mineral that grew in the ground, and they turn away from view easily enough.

At ten and a half inches this reads as a piece of furniture rather than a small accent, so give it room above and let it stand alone at the end of a shelf or beside a lamp rather than crowding it in with other stones.

Fluorite has been called the genius stone for well over a century, and the reputation is specific rather than general. It is the stone people keep near their work. It is said to pull the clutter out of a crowded mind, to sort scattered thinking back into order and to make it easier to hold a complicated thing in your head without losing the thread, which is why it so often ends up on a desk, a work table or a studio shelf rather than on a bedside table. Students and people who think for a living have carried it for generations for exactly that reason, and it is traditionally reached for at the start of something difficult rather than at the end of it.

The banding gives this one two readings at once. Purple fluorite is tied to intuition and to the third eye, the quieter kind of knowing that arrives before you can explain it, and it is associated with cutting through confusion and with seeing a situation for what it actually is rather than what you want it to be. The clear and cream layers are read as the grounding half, steadying and settling whatever the purple stirs up and keeping insight tethered to something practical. A piece banded like this, where the two alternate the whole way up, is described as carrying the clearing and the steadying in the same stone, and collectors often prefer a banded fluorite over a single color piece for that reason.

The tower form matters to how people use it. A polished point is traditionally read as a stone that gathers whatever is around it and sends it upward and outward through the tip, so towers are set in the spot where someone wants the energy of a room to lift and focus rather than pool. Placed on a desk it is said to work on concentration, in a shared room it is said to settle the general noise, and many people simply keep one in the corner they pass most often, on the understanding that a stone you actually see does more than one you have put away in a drawer.

One of a kind, exactly the piece in the photos.

Please note, fluorite is a softer stone, so handle it gently, avoid knocking the point, and keep it out of long hours of direct sunlight, which can fade the color over time. This is a natural stone, not a factory product. You will find small surface textures, slight asymmetry, and subtle variations in clarity. That is not a flaw. That is a few million years of geology doing its thing.
